Back in 1998, I was working as a client trainer for a software development company that had just achieved ISO 9001 certification. When they created an internal Quality Manager position, I was intrigued—even though I had no prior ISO 9001 experience. Curious and determined, I dove into understanding what ISO 9001 meant for the company and how it aligned with my skills. To my surprise, its principles mirrored how I naturally approached my work, so I took the leap, applied for the role, and got it.
Stepping into this new position was both exciting and overwhelming. While my existing skills provided a strong foundation, I quickly realized there was much more to learn. With guidance from an external consultant and formal training, I built my technical knowledge, but I still found myself wondering what more I needed to do to truly succeed. Over time, I learned that becoming a confident quality leader isn't just about technical expertise—it’s about strategic thinking, leadership, and building credibility. My journey had its share of challenges, doubts, and mistakes, but each experience shaped my growth. Now, I help others navigate their own path to quality leadership with confidence and resilience.
